The mayor of Sector 4, Daniel Beluce, wants to provide financial support of 300,000 lei to the Romanian Judo Federation, headed by Cozmin Gusha, according to a draft decision on the agenda of Thursday’s city council meeting.

“It is approved to provide financial support to the Judo Federation of Romania in the amount of 300,000 lei for the organization of the International Tournament of Romania among U18 cadets in Bucharest in the period June 1-7, 2023,” the draft decision reads.

The approval report, signed by Mayor Daniel Beluce, stated that the organization of the competition involves large costs that the federation cannot cover on its own.

  • “Due to the appeal received from the Judo Federation of Romania no. 124/02.02.2023 (…) the support of the local state authorities is requested for the organization of the International Tournament of Romania for U18 cadets in Bucharest in the period 01-07 June 2023, which gives the opportunity for Romanian athletes to participate, in the future, at the European Championship in Portugal, and also at the World Cup in Croatia.
  • Such an organization involves large costs that the federation cannot cover on its own, and therefore requests financial support from Sector 4 of the Municipality of Bucharest in the amount of 300,000 lei, the amount necessary for the adequate and appropriate organization of competition premises, equipment and equipment necessary for training, equipment of emergency medical care, as well as other types of activities, are exhaustively described in the Federation’s appeal,” said the approval report signed by Mayor Daniel Beluce.

The document also states that the City Hall of Sector 4 supports “a healthy living environment through physical education and sports aimed at both students and practitioners of sports activities that lead to results in competitions of any level through the practice of sports and physical education. “, and as a partner of the Romanian Judo Federation, Bucharest Sector 4 will benefit from media coverage during the competition.

The president of the Judo Federation of Romania is Cosmin Gusha, a former PSD politician. One of the executive vice-presidents is Aurelian Bedulescu, general counsel of the PSD.
