In a statement, the Greek Actors’ Union, which will decide its next steps today, noted that KYA is improving the salary issue but leaving artistic pursuits without professional recognition.

The artists continued their mobilization – now receiving messages of support from Thomas Ostermeier and the Thessaloniki City Council – with a protest concert outside the Rex Theatre.

Last Friday, the jointly competent ministries introduced the state’s KYA salary plan for graduates of theater and dance schools, regardless of the year of graduation, which regulates remuneration for artistic and related work, forming a special salary scale. “Artistic Creation” with a basic level 1 salary of 1,037 euros.

The regulation also includes the unregulated specialties of theatre, dance and film.
