CSM Bucharest defeated Rapid Bucharest on Monday to reach the quarterfinals of the Romanian Women’s Handball Cup after a first half dominated by the Railwaymen.

CSM Bucharest won 31-24 (13-14) at the Polyvalent Hall, where both galleries were fervently supporting their favourites.

Rapid dominated the first half against an unknown opponent, but CSM took revenge in the second act, in which the champions could not find an antidote and scored only one goal 15 minutes after the break, according to News.ro.

The new confrontation between the champion Rapid Bucharest and the vice-champion CSM Bucharest was decided by the team of Cristina Nyagu, who first qualified for the quarter-finals of the Romanian Cup.

The main scorers were Arntzen with 8 goals for CSM, respectively Bucheski with 6 for Rapid. The player of the match was the goalkeeper of the vice-champion Marie Davidsen with 15 effective saves.

The quarter-final matches will take place on March 9, and the “Final Four” on May 20-21.

In 2022, the Romanian Cup was won by CSM Bucharest after a final with SCM Rm.Vâlcea, score 34-26.
