The victims included a man who was fatally shot at the store and a woman who was killed at the home, WMC-TV reported, citing Tate County Sheriff Brad Lance. All of the shootings took place in Arcabult, a community of fewer than 300 residents about 60 kilometers south of Memphis, Tennessee.

The suspect, who has not been identified, was taken into custody without incident after officers found him in the vehicle, media reports said.

Police later found four more people dead, according to the report.

According to WJTV-12, citing the sheriff, two of those victims were found at the home where the suspect is believed to be living.

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves said on social media that he had been informed of the incidents. Authorities arrested the man, who is believed to have acted alone, and a motive is still unknown, Reeves said.

“Please pray now for the victims of this tragic violence and their families,” Reeves said.

The Mississippi Office of Public Safety said state investigators were called in to assist the county sheriff’s office.
