
US President Joe Biden will hold a meeting in Warsaw with members of the Bucharest 9 formation, a group of NATO allies on the eastern flank, said John Kirby, the National Security Council’s strategic communications coordinator.
President Joe Biden will meet with Polish President Andrzej Duda during his trip next week to thank him for the military and humanitarian aid Warsaw is providing to Ukraine, the White House said, according to CNN.
The president will meet in Warsaw with NATO members in the form of the Bucharest 9, a group of NATO allies on the eastern flank, said John Kirby, the National Security Council’s strategic communications coordinator.
According to Kirby, the trip “comes at an important time” as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine reaches the one-year mark.
The heads of state in the Bucharest Format 9 are Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary, and it is an organization founded on November 4, 2015 in Bucharest at the initiative of the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, and the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, during a bilateral meetings
Biden will meet with Duda on Tuesday morning.
“President Biden will thank President Duda and the Polish people for the $3.8 billion in military and humanitarian aid they have provided to Ukraine over the past year. And for all the efforts made by the Polish people to generously welcome more people. over one and a half million refugees from Ukraine,” Kirby said.
According to Kirby, during a meeting with the leaders of the 9 member states in Bucharest on Wednesday, Biden will “reaffirm the unwavering support of the United States.”
