A criminal organization that committed robberies with particular cruelty was liquidated from the department for crimes against the life and freedom of the person of the Attica Security Directorate.

This case was preceded by a thorough investigation and use of information, and as part of a coordinated police operation yesterday afternoon, Thursday, February 16, 2023, five (5) members of the organization, including the leader, were arrested. in the Athens area.

As it turned out as a result of the preliminary investigation, the members of the organization, since at least September 2022, have formed and joined a criminal group with clearly defined roles and constant actions to commit murders and robberies in the Greater Athens area in order to obtain illegal profits. .

Specifically, the lead member, acting as the person in charge, was in charge of coordinating the attacks, the remaining three (3) members acted alongside the lead in the abuse of the victims, and the fifth acted as the “chiliadoro”. .

As regards the mode of operation (modus operandi), the members of the organization, having as their “base” two houses in the center of Athens, committed robberies either by breaking into shops or by surprise attacks on the street, during which they used special violence (use of a knife and, in some cases, firearms) against their victims.

During the searches carried out in the houses of the “runaway” houses, items of clothing and a knife used in robbery attacks were found and confiscated.

So far, the investigation has revealed that the defendants committed two robbery murders against a citizen and a foreigner, as well as three cases of robbery and attempted murder against three foreigners in the wider center of Athens.

It is worth noting that two of those arrested are awaiting arrest warrants and court decisions for similar crimes.

The arrested, in respect of whom a criminal case has been initiated on a criminal organization, murder and robbery, were taken to the competent prosecutor’s office.
