Belarus is ready to start production of Su-25 attack aircraft, which “proved their effectiveness in Ukraine,” Belarusian President Oleksandr Lukashenko said during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, the Belarusian state news agency BelTA reports.

“As I was informed by the government, Su-25 attack aircraft, which have proven their effectiveness in Ukraine, are being prepared for production. We are even ready to produce them in Belarus if the Russian Federation provides a little technological support,” Lukashenko told Putin, reports BelTA.

“You somehow raised the issue of cooperation in the production of aircraft in the Eurasian Economic Union,” Lukashenko said, reports BelTA.

“Therefore, I must say that the Belarusians are already producing up to a thousand components for the MS-21 [avionul rusesc de pasageri] and Sukhoi Superjet. We have three factories: two military and one civilian. Once they were repair shops. Today, they produce components,” Lukashenko said, reports BelTA.

According to the Kremlin, they met on Friday at Putin’s official residence in Novo-Ogaryovo, Moscow region.

Lukashenko said Thursday that “under no circumstances” would his country send troops to Ukraine unless it was attacked, and said Russia “never asked” him to launch a joint war in Ukraine, CNN reported.

Lukashenko avoided questions from the international media about his country’s involvement in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and instead accused the West of escalating the conflict by sending weapons to Ukraine.
