A Briton, wanted by the US for importing drugs and possessing weapons, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon (February 14) in the center of Thessaloniki pursuant to an international warrant from US authorities. This is a 45-year-old man who has been detained and is expected to be taken to the Thessaloniki Prosecutor’s Office of Appeal to begin proceedings on a request for his extradition to the United States.

According to a statement by the Greek police, his arrest was preceded by the cooperation of police officers from the Department of General Affairs of the Drug Enforcement Sub-Directory of Thessaloniki and the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

He is charged with “conspiracy to import drugs” and “conspiracy and possession of assault rifles and destructive devices,” acts that appear to have taken place between May 2021 and December 2022 in the United States, according to U.S. Attorney documents.
