Banksy’s work for “Saint Valentine” remains unfinished

Just a few 24 hours after it appeared on a wall in Margate, England, and one day after the artist confirmed that the work belongs to himBanksy’s Valentine’s Day mural was left… unfinished by order of the city council.

A street art project appeared in the seaside British city on Sunday evening. According to the testimonies of citizens, a van appeared on the site late at night, and the next day the graffiti was in place.

Yesterday, on Valentine’s Day, Bansky confirmed that the work was his and revealed its title: “Valentine’s Day Ink”.

The mural depicts a 1950s housewife with a swollen eye and missing tooth locking a man in a freezer. Many believe that the artist wanted to convey a message about fighting domestic violence and violence against women.

The freezer has been removed.

In any case, the inhabitants of Margate and the rest of the planet enjoyed this particular Banksy work for about 48 hours, since the freezer, which was part of the work of art, was removed by order of the city council.

The reason for the decision was that the graffiti could have been painted on a private wall, but the freezer was in a public area and had to be removed for security reasons.

“The freezer is in storage and will be moved back to the scene as soon as it is safe for the public. We will also contact the owner of the building to discuss our options for preserving the artwork.”
