Russia’s Gazprom said it was transporting 35.3 million cubic meters (million cubic meters) of gas to Europe via Ukraine on Wednesday, the highest level since Jan. 16, when flows totaled 35.4 million cubic meters.

The volume delivered by Gazprom on Tuesday was well above Tuesday’s figure of 30.8 million cubic meters, but still below levels of more than 40 million cubic meters in the second half of 2022 and early January.

The increase in volumes could further lower European gas prices, which are near their lowest level since September 2021 at around €52 per megawatt-hour (MWh). Last year, they reached a record level of more than 300 EUR/MWh against the backdrop of a reduction in Russian gas supplies to Europe.

Refinitiv Eikon data shows that temperatures will continue to rise for the rest of this week in the UK and north-west Europe, before falling closer to seasonal normals next week.

The latest forecasts also point to a cooler-than-normal temperature in March.
