Pliskova, who is ranked 19th in the WTA rankings, lost to Kateryna Alexandrova (18th WTA) 6-1, 6-2 in less than an hour.

The US Open 2016 and Wimbledon 2021 finalist Plishkova came from the qualification, where she alternately beat Ana Bohdan, Harriet Dart and Leila Fernandez.

In the next round, Aleksandrova will meet the 5th-ranked Maria Sakkari (7 WTA), the favorite of the tournament.

The Qatar TotalEnergies Open (from Doha) runs from February 13 to 18 on hard, is part of the WTA 500 category, has a total prize pool of $780,637, and the title is won by Iga Sviatek (title won in 2022).
