The city hall has announced a tender for the rehabilitation of the coast of Hestrau Lake, an investment of more than 50 million lei, Horia Tomescu, deputy mayor in charge of parks, announced on the Facebook page. A tender for the construction of a new pedestrian bridge across the lake, parallel to the railway, was also launched on Tuesday.

“For the first time since 1966, the state administration will carry out major repairs to rehabilitate the coast guards of Hestrau Lake. Today, 14.02.2023, a notice was sent to PDSER about participation in “Services for the design and implementation of works of the investment object, capital repair, coastal fortifications of Lake Hestrau, including coastal fortifications of the Herestreu islands”, with an estimated cost of 51,109,675 lei without VAT,” announced Tomescu.

Also on Tuesday, the capital city hall announced a tender for the construction of a pedestrian bridge over Lake Herestreu, the estimated cost of the works is 3.76 million lei without VAT, Mayor Nikushor Dan said.

  • “We have launched a procurement procedure at SEAP for the construction of a mobile footbridge next to the railway bridge in the King Michael I Park to cross Lake Gerestrau.
  • Last August, we signed a permit for the construction of this facility.
  • The bridge will ensure the safe movement of visitors and pleasure boats, which will be able to pass under both the pedestrian bridge and the CF bridge
  • Currently, there is a temporary pedestrian bridge made of metal elements on lease from the Ministry of National Defense near the railway bridge, but it is blocking the movement of boats under the CF bridge,” said Nikushor Dan.

The investment duration is 2 months for design and 8 months for implementation.

Since 2011, the capital city hall has been trying to restore the shores of Lake Gerestrau, but there was no money. The shores of the lake are in deep degradation, as a result of which the land crumbles and the alleys around the water are destroyed. Paths around the lake cannot be asphalted until the shores are improved.
