
More than 22,000 smuggled packs of cigarettes and tobacco products were seized following a police investigation that resulted in the arrest of two people, aged 44 and 48, who were charged with violating the Customs Code Act and forging documents.
In particular, as part of an organized police operation that took place early Monday morning, a 44-year-old man was caught in the Neapolis area delivering a box of smuggled cigarette packs to a 48-year-old man, and they were arrested.
As part of the investigations carried out in the parking lot (garage) in Ampelokipis, used by the 44-year-old as a warehouse, in a truck located in the aforementioned area with questionable license plates, in the 44-year-old -olda in Kordelios and in the cars in which detained, a total of 22,159 smuggled cigarette packs worth €751 were found and seized. Two cars and a truck were confiscated as a means of storing and transporting contraband tobacco products.
Those arrested in the case brought against them will be taken to the competent prosecutor’s office.
