OUR Artificial intelligence continues to show her boundless potential as she flew a fighter trainer this time for over 17 hours.
This is the first time artificial intelligence has been used to pilot such a tactical aircraft, according to American aerospace company Lockheed Martin.
The test was conducted using VISTA (Variable In-Flight Simulation Test Aircraft), which can simulate the performance of other aircraft in the air. The flight took place from Edwards Air Force Base in California.
VISTA, which is a modified version of the F-16D Block 30 Peace Marble II aircraft with upgraded Block 40 components, was developed by Lockheed Martin in collaboration with the Air Force and Calspan.
Lockheed Martin, based in Maryland, has announced that it will continue to develop artificial intelligence for the US Air Force in 2023 with the goal of developing autonomous fighter jets.
