On Monday, Netflix exclusively told HotNews.ro that it will lower the base subscription price for Romanian customers of the streaming service.

More precisely, the price of the basic subscription (basic) of Netflix for Romania will be reduced from 7.99 euros to 4.99 euros, starting from Monday, February 13.

“The goal is simple: to offer Netflix members a wide selection of quality, carefully selected series and movies. In this way, regardless of the mood or tastes of subscribers, everyone can find something suitable,” said a Netflix statement sent to HotNews.ro.

The new membership price will take effect from Monday at 8pm and new members who sign up will immediately see the new base membership price starting today.

Existing customers of the streaming platform will see the changes in the coming weeks, starting with their next bill. They will receive a notification by email and in the Netflix app 30 days before the new price applies to them.

The exact time will depend on each subscriber’s billing cycle.

What does the Netflix basic subscription offer, which will cost €4.99 in Romania

For customers who subscribe to this “basic” package, Netflix offers the ability to watch all its movies and series on the device in HD resolution. Unlike other markets, in Romania the basic package does not contain advertising.

In addition, customers paying for the basic package can download movies and series to watch when they are not connected to the Internet through the Netflix app, which can be installed on a desktop/laptop or mobile device.

The price of the other two types of Netflix subscriptions, Standard and Premium, will remain unchanged for customers in Romania at €9.99 and €11.99 per month respectively.

The standard package allows you to watch Netflix products on two devices at the same time in Full HD resolution, and the premium offers the ability to watch movies and series on 6 devices at the same time, up to Ultra HD resolution.
