
​Venera Ekaterina Vatan, a family doctor in Dolj County, was sent to court by DNA prosecutors under judicial control after she allegedly demanded and received several sums of money from 926 people who helped them get COVID-19. 19 vaccination certificates, without these people actually being vaccinated.
“From the money that the intermediaries demanded from each of the 926 people, the sum of 200 lei/person (185,200 lei in total) would have gone to the doctor Vatan Venera Ekaterina, who would have continued enrolling the relevant people in the National Electronic Register of Vaccinations (RENV) and issuing false certificates on vaccination against COVID-19,” the NABU said in a statement.
In addition to the money received in the above manner, the defendant Vatan Venera Ecaterina would have demanded and received from the Dolj Health Insurance Company the cost of the “injection” of the vaccine in the case of 926 people, who received a total of 37,720 lei from this institution, the DNA press release also states.
In the same context, the doctor Vatan Venera Ecaterina, having received books with food stamps, allocated to patients according to WHO no. 1863/2021 (regarding the provision of food aid in the form of food vouchers to people vaccinated under the full vaccination scheme against the SARS-CoV-2 virus), allegedly illegally provided to one of the intermediaries (who entered into a plea agreement with the anti-corruption prosecutors) 190 notebooks (each containing 5 meal vouchers worth 20 lei/piece – 19,000 lei) with the purpose of disposing of them in personal interests, according to DNA.
Precautionary measures have been taken in the case.
The Medical Insurance Fund of Dolj and the Public Health Directorate of Dolj became civil parties for the total sum of 56,720 lei.
The materials have been sent to the Court of Debts for review with a proposal to keep the precautionary and preventive measures in force in the case.
Earlier, plea agreements were concluded with four persons (intermediaries) in the case.
In this case, DNA prosecutors used the support of the General Anti-Corruption Directorate.
DNA clarifies that “this stage of the criminal process represents, according to the Criminal Procedure Code, the completion of the criminal investigation and the sending of the indictment to the court for consideration, a situation that cannot violate the principle of presumption of crime. innocence”.
