
A Greek rescue mission sent to Turkey following a devastating earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale in the early hours of February 6 in southeastern Turkey and Syria has arrived in Athens.
The mission was welcomed at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport by the political leadership of the Ministry of Climate Crises and Civil Protection, Health Minister Thanos Pleuris and the physical leadership of the fire brigade, as well as members of EKAB.
In particular, Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Christos Stylianidis, Minister of Health Thanos Plevris, Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Evangelos Tournas, Secretary General of Civil Protection Vassilis Papageorgiou, Chief Among others, the fire brigade is at the airport, Lieutenant General Georgios Pournaras, Chief Lieutenant General Athanasios Balafas of the Operations Department of the Fire Brigade Headquarters, as well as Dimitris Pirros, Director of the EKAV Medical Service.
It is noted that the mission included 36 officers of the 1st and 2nd EMAK, (21 from the 1st EMAK and 15 from the 2nd EMAK), two fire department engineer officers with experience in bringing up the ruins of a collapsed building, 8 EKAB doctors and rescuers, three rescue dogs and three special rescue vehicles, as well as OASP President Prof. Efthimis Lekkas.
