
According to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who announced the news on Twitter on Saturday, an unidentified Pakistani man came to the Turkish embassy in the US and donated $30 million to earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.
“Deeply moved by the example of an anonymous Pakistani who entered the Turkish embassy in the US and donated 30 million dollars to the victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria,” the prime minister wrote on Twitter.
He said that “such glorious acts of philanthropy allow humanity to triumph when the odds seem insurmountable.”
Pakistan sent two C-130 Hercules aircraft to Turkey with search and rescue teams, including doctors, dogs and nurses.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also held telephone conversations with the prime ministers of Turkey and Syria and assured them that Pakistan would provide all possible assistance to the victims.
