The head of the Ministry of the Interior of Germany, Nancy Feser, said that European countries should act for a better distribution of Ukrainian refugees, the German DPA agency reported on Sunday, citing Agerpres.

In statements to Bild am Sonntag, Faeser said some EU member states could do more to ease the burden on Ukraine’s neighbors, which have taken in large numbers of civilians fleeing the Russian invasion.

Better coordination is needed in case new Russian attacks trigger a new influx of refugees trying to escape the violence, she argued.

“Currently, Poland has accepted more than 1.5 million refugees from Ukraine, Spain – 160 thousand. Everything can’t stay like this,” Faizer warned.
