According to Dedonder, these underwater systems capable of detecting various threats, such as mines and spy equipment, have already been delivered to Ukraine.
The European Union Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine) began work on October 17. The mission aims to train up to 30,000 Ukrainian military personnel on the territory of the EU with the participation of 24 member states.
In November, Dedonder announced that Belgium will deliver ten underwater drones manufactured by ECA Robotics Belgium and mobile laboratory installations to Ukraine.
On January 27, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo announced that his country would send military equipment worth 92 million euros to Ukraine as part of the largest aid package to date.
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Belgium has provided defense aid to Ukraine in the amount of 146 million euros, De Croo reports. He added that his country had also frozen Russian assets worth 58 billion euros.
