The announcement came after a Santa Fe district attorney charged Baldwin with manslaughter on Jan. 31, accusing him of criminal negligence when the gun he was rehearsing for a scene fired and discharged a live bullet that killed Hutchins and also wounded director Joel Souza. .

In October, actor Alec Baldwin and the producers of the western Rust reached a settlement in a separate civil lawsuit against Hutchins’ husband, Matt Hutchins.

Hutchins was born in Ukraine, and her parents and sister still live in the war-torn country near Kyiv. According to attorney Gloria Allred, their lawsuit seeks unspecified damages from Baldwin, crew members and producers under New Mexico law.

“Whoever is responsible for her loss must be brought to justice,” Hutchins’ sister Svitlana said in Russian in a video translated into English.

Luke Nikas, an attorney representing Baldwin, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Allred said the settlement with Matt Hutchins was for him and the couple’s son, and she also represented other family members. According to her, relatives of the cinematographer in Ukraine maintain contact with Matt Hutchins.

According to Matt Hutchins’ agreement, the film was to resume production in early 2023, with Hutchins serving as executive producer, Baldwin remaining in the lead role, and Souza as director.
