Alka’s murder trial – police testimony: how the authorities got to the 12 defendants

The details of the investigation and how the prosecution authorities tracked down the 12 defendants were disclosed by a police officer from the Crimes Against Life Division of the Thessaloniki Security Service, whose investigation was ongoing in the Thessaloniki Mixed Jury, trial for the murder of a 19-year-old ALki Campanu.

The key figure appears to have been the man who was the first to be arrested in time, who, when he realized that the cordon around him was tightening, decided, three 24 hours after the murderous episode, to name the others. Previously, he was brought in based on the analysis of video footage from the CCTV camera at the scene of the attack and the identification of the car he was driving.

“At first he was negative, he asked for a lawyer. He said that he was at the scene of the attack, but did not get out of the car and did not say anything to anyone. Over time, and he was left alone, he began to tense up. On Friday, he decided to tell the others. He stated that he knew all of them and indicated where they were sitting in the three cars. The only one he did not know was the 12th defendant,” the witness said.

The said defendant, according to the statement of the policeman, was known to the police (Sports Violence Control Authority) due to his earlier involvement in the incident with the fan, and indeed in the same area where was killed Aleki, in Harilau. Like, according to the policeman, yes he was a leading figure in the central fan association-where a weapon was found as a result of a police investigation-, and the keys to the premises were found on him.

“Crash Attack”

Thoroughly testifying about investigations and detailing every action taken by his service (from video analysis, witness statements, deprivation of telephone privacy, to analysis DNA which found in physical evidence, etc.), a police officer of the Crimes Against Life Division was asked to place one – one of the defendants in time and space in the area where the murderous episode occurred in the early hours of February 1, 2022.

He talked about “cruiser attack“, which lasted just over a minute. “Everyone had a gun, they had it with them from afar. They knew what they wanted to do, how much damage and how much to do,” he stated, speaking of fan-motivated attacks, he said that they are “blind” to the people they hit.

“It is important that the victims belong to the opposite team (…) Everyone knows what to do. There is solace in these attacks, it’s not the first time you’ve done it. The decision to carry out (attack) someone presses more than others,” he said.

The Heist That Was a Fan Episode

The witness testified that in most of them the defendants knew each other by their involvement in PAOK, while most of them were members of the team’s various fan associations. He stood in an earlier fan incident in which one of the defendants was the victim (he was shot in the eye and was in the hospital for a month), but when called to testify to the police, he claimed it was a robbery. From the relative environment of the particular defendant, it finally emerged that this was a fan-made episode in which the victim later asked for “revenge”.

Referring to the course of the three cars that were moving in procession from the above central link to Garilov, the policeman testified that they were moving along the perimeter of the stadium “Kl. Vikelides”, “knowing that there are followers of Aris”. Their concern, he said, was not to run into a large group, not to be outnumbered.

Describing the crime scene, he revealed that there was “too much blood“, specifically mentioning, as the forensic expert said, that Alkis lost three liters of blood. At the scene of the murder, according to the witness, a scythe and a little further a wooden pick were found, and at the direction of the defendants a few days later in the Termi area – a crowbar. , another pick, hammer and helmets were found.

13.02 continued

The trial has been rescheduled for next Monday (February 13) and will continue with the questioning of the same witness and questions from the civil suit and defense lawyers. On the same day, as it was decided, video materials from the location of the killer will be shown, the materials of which are attached to the case file.

Today’s meeting, the 6th in a row, began with the completion of the testimony of a friend of the elk, and then a police officer of immediate action took the witness position, in whose hands the unfortunate 19-year-old boy cooled off. “It was like being in a slaughterhouse,” said a particular police officer, describing the crime scene.

As he testified, he saw Alki in a “pool of blood” rushing to give him first aid in an attempt to stop the bleeding, and the 19-year-old chanted “here”, pointing to the groin where he had been punched. “The shock when the baby leaves your arms is great,” the policeman said.
