
In the period from January 30 to February 5, 99,564 cases of acute respiratory infections – clinical influenza, IAKRS and pneumonia – were registered in Romania, according to the National Institute of Public Health. According to INSP specialists, the number of respiratory infections is stationary, after a period of decline. In the previous week, 98,011 cases of acute respiratory infections were registered in our country – clinical flu, IAKRS and pneumonia.
From January 30 to February 5, 2,788 cases of clinical influenza were registered in the country, compared to 3,405 cases in the previous week.
According to the INSP, a wide geographical distribution of influenza remains, but with average intensity of influenza activity, most cases of clinical influenza were registered in the city of Bucharest (657) and in the counties of Cluj (261), Timișoara (240), Iași (186) and Buzău (111).
Over the past week, 239 laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza were registered (37 – for the AH1 virus, 10 – for the AH3 virus, 178 – for the non-subtyped influenza A virus, and 14 – for the influenza B virus).
So far in this cold season, 50 deaths from influenza virus have been confirmed in Romania, of which: 32 from influenza A H1 virus (of which 1 with co-infection with SARS-CoV-2 and RSV), 9 from influenza A H3 virus (of which 2 with co-infection with SARS-CoV-2), 9 with influenza virus type A, without subtype (3 of them with co-infection with SARS-CoV-2).
As of today, 1,465,719 people from risk groups have been vaccinated against influenza, the vaccine was distributed free of charge by the Ministry of Health. To these people are added those who bought the vaccine in pharmacies, but the authorities do not have their centralization.
