Department of Immigration and Asylum sources associate the increase with activation networks of human traffickersas seen in recent arrests. So, in December, 2,800 people arrived in Greece, and in January – 2,600, of which 1,300 went to the islands. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Immigration, a total of about 4,600 people remain in the KYT (Reception and Identification Center) of the islands. In particular, 1,869 people live in the regional municipality of Lesbos, 327 in Chios, 905 in Samos, 387 in Leros and 1,048 in Kos. It is noted that recently several Palestinians arrived in Kos, who moved along the route, which had the “headquarters” of the law office in Gaza.

“Tariff” 3200 euros

In December, 2,800 people arrived in Greece, and in January 2,600, of which 1,300 were on the islands.

Sources at the Ministry of Immigration say the fare from Halicarnassus to Kos has reached €3,200, according to reports between migrants and traffickers. A transfer to the mainland from the islands is expected in the near future, as there are several empty places in the accommodation centers.

2022 also saw an increase from 2021, as 15,052 people arrived in the first eleven months of the previous year between January and November 2022, while 8,031 arrived in the same period in 2021.
