The US State Department has approved the potential sale of long-range missiles and munitions to Poland in a deal worth up to $10 billion, the Pentagon said on Tuesday, Reuters reported.
The sale came as Kyiv praised its American HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems) missile launchers for battlefield successes such as destroying Russian warehouses and command posts.
The package includes 18 HIMARS launchers, 45 missiles with a range of 297 km from the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) and more than 1,000 guided rocket multiple launch systems (GMLRS).
The US rejected Ukraine’s requests for ATACMS missiles. Poland could not transfer any ATACMS to Ukraine without US consent.
