Petrolul Ploiești on Tuesday confirmed the departure of Nicolae Constantin, the coach who left the Prahova group after five consecutive matches without a win.

Nicolae Constantin is no longer the coach of Petrolul Ploiesti.

Konstantin announced his retirement after the 5-0 defeat against Botosani, and Petrolul clarified that he stood by his decision. Ploiesti announced that the new coach will be introduced in the next period.​​

In charge from the summer of 2021, Nicolae Constantin was the man under whose mandate FC Petrolul returned to the top tier of Romanian football after a seven-year hiatus at the end of the previous season. Now Konstantin leaves the team in eighth place in the Super League after 23 stages, having scored 30 points, which is a more than honorable record for the new team.
