PSD National Council President Vasile Dinku said on Monday night in a show on Prima News TV that he believes the PSD President can win the presidential elections in 2024, but not only on the basis of the party’s votes, but also the unification of him and other public formations , left-center forms and promotion of a certain communitarianism. Marcel Čolaku’s mandate could also matter if he does a good mandate for Romania, the Social Democrat also said.
Vasile Dinku said that his statement that PSD President Marcel Çolaku has a chance to win the presidential election was made “as a sociologist”. “I was based on certain assumptions, it seems to me that the presidents of the PSD – Nestase, Joana and Ponta – lost because they were the presidents of the PSD. I was there, I did exit polls, I saw the strategic mistakes that were made, I can say that it is not only that. There was no concern about creating a broader left-wing platform,” Dincu said, according to News.ro.
He showed that “American consultants working in an American environment always come, but Romania is different.”
“I believe that the president of PSD can win the (presidential, no) elections, but not on the basis of the party’s votes, but also by uniting around him other public groups, from environmentalists to other forms of the center-left movement, promoting the so-called a type of communitarianism like in Transylvania, helping communities to express themselves. You need to make a policy with multiple speeds, you need one speed for the south and another for Transylvania. In Transylvania, people want more rights and autonomy, in Moldova and in the south they need additional support from the state, they need resources for development, you have to find a combination of strategies,” said Vasile Dinku.
“Marcel Čolak’s mandate may also matter”
The president of the PSD National Council stated that he believes they have a better chance in the 2024 presidential election than Victor Ponta, who received the most votes.
“Now we have several arguments related to the fact that our counter-candidate will not be from the opposition, but from the party that ruled Romania in recent years, the innocent cannot come. Marcel Colacu’s mandate could also matter if he manages to get a good mandate for Romania. (…) People would like things to be good for them, but they would also like to see changes. I hope that we will be able to become hope for the future,” said Vasile Dinku.
