Amid talks that could lead to the option of Russian athletes participating in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, Denmark has announced its opposition, even if they compete under a neutral flag.

Denmark opposes the presence of Russians at the 2024 Olympics

“This is Denmark’s official position that we should not give way in relations with Russia. The government’s line is clear. Russia should be banned from all international sports as long as it continues its attacks on Ukraine,” said Jakob Engel-Schmidt, Denmark’s Minister of Culture, according to News.ro.

Last week, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that athletes from Russia could receive permission to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded by asking the IOC to ban Russian athletes from participating. On Thursday, Poland and the Baltic countries appealed to international forums to ban the participation of Russians and Belarusians.

If athletes from Russia and Belarus participate, several countries may boycott the Olympic Games.
