The pair consisting of the Swiss Victoria Golubic and the Romanian Monica Niculescu on Thursday defeated the team of the Americans Kaitlin Christian and Sabrina Santamaria, reaching the semifinals of the tennis tournament in Lyon.

After an hour and 26 minutes of play, Golubic and Niculescu came back from the first set down to win 5-7, 6-1, 10-7.

Monica Niculescu is the only player from Romania to remain in the doubles, along with Switzerland’s Viktoria Golubic, and they reached the quarterfinals after eliminating their opponents from the round of 16.

In the semifinals of the Lyon Open 2023, both athletes will meet the pair of Cristina Buchs (Spain) and Bibiane Schoofs (Netherlands).

The Lyon Open is contested from January 30 to February 5 on hard. It has total prize money of $259,303 and is ranked in the WTA 250 category.
