The Minister of Agriculture, Petre Daea, states that “it is unthinkable to stop raising pigs in the households of the population”, “given the fact that Romania only identifies itself”. The minister believes that, in addition to the large number of wild boars in Romania, another reason for the spread of the swine fever virus is the lack of compliance with the law.

“It is impossible to stop raising pigs in households. This is spoken by a person with experience, with analysis in this field and, if you like, with many technical interpretations from this point of view, and it must be very clearly understood forever, given the fact that Romania is identified only with this. (…) We have only one problem that we have to solve and we solve it through firm regulations, namely the traceability of products, and more precisely the movement of animals. Because this spread of the disease is determined, among other things, by this factor generated by the lack of respect for the law, because you know very well – I also faced this issue, I know it in his private life – at the moment when a person does not understand that an animal , which leaves the yard, must know where it is taken and for what purpose, these things can still cause difficulties for public authorities, including the sanitary and veterinary institution, which cannot create a biological dam for each individual household.” – said the Minister of Agriculture, Petre Daea, on Wednesday evening on Prima News TV, responding to those who criticize the fact that many pigs are raised in people’s households in uncontrolled conditions, which leads to the spread of swine fever, News. ro.

Daea said the state had taken measures, but stressed that the swine fever virus “has taken hold of Europe, and not only Europe”, and there is “no medical answer for it either through vaccines or through treatment”.

According to the minister, another reason for the spread of the swine fever virus is the large number of wild boars.
