The video intervention of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi during the next music festival in San Remo, which will be held on February 7-11, is causing controversy among the Italian political class.

During the event, a recorded message of the Ukrainian president will be heard, which will be broadcast on RAI on February 11. In this two-minute video, he thanks Italy for its support in the war against Russia, writes BFM TV.

According to local media, this video of the intervention was not removed due to pressure from several RAI board members. Many representatives of the political class condemned Zelensky’s involvement.

“Let’s hope that Sanremo will remain a festival of Italian song and nothing else,” said Matteo Salvini, vice-president of the Italian Council of Ministers and leader of the far-right Northern League party. “I hope that the war will end as soon as possible and that San Remo will remain a place dedicated to music,” he added.

“Our support for Ukraine is unquestionable. However, I consider it a mistake to mix a musical event with a message from the president of a country in a state of war,” Carlo Calenda, the leader of the social-liberal Action party, wrote on Twitter.

Zelenskyi has made similar appearances at the Grammy and Golden Globe galas in recent months. He also participated in the opening ceremonies of the Cannes and Venice festivals. (Source: News.ro)
