Rula Pispirigou: Manos Daskalakis first witness at court on Tuesday

The parents of 9-year-old Georgina, who died exactly a year ago at the Children’s Hospital at the hands of her mother, will face a mixed jury trial on Tuesday, according to the charges, according to judicial authorities.

Rula Pispirigou, from the bench where she sits for the murder and attempted murder of her 9-year-old daughter, will hear the testimony of her ex-husband Manos Daskalakis as the first witness at the trial.

A year ago, the couple found themselves united in the face of “an unimaginable tragedy”, as the media reported, “for a family from Patras who lost all three children.” Today, however, none of them is in the same position.

The children’s father has filed an appeal to end their marriage and is no longer with the 34-year-old woman. At the trial, he speaks in support of the prosecution, demanding satisfaction of the moral harm and mental suffering caused to him by the actions of his ex-wife, which are mentioned in the indictment against her.

Approximately two months later, the mother is serving one year of temporary detention in connection with the death of Georgina, while a second temporary detention order has also been issued against her in connection with the death of her younger children, Malena and Iris. A warrant that, according to her defense, should be withdrawn.

Manos Daskalakis, 31, opens a series of testimonies today in the trial of his children’s mother, asking, as he said, “justice for my Georgina.” The child, of whom he himself said that “I experienced incredible joy and excitement when she was born” and that “there, when I saw her in the incubator, I fell in love for the first time … and I told her “I will never leave you.”

It is expected that his testimony will not be accepted without a barrage of questions from the defendant, who will try to destroy everything he says against her.

Roulas Pispirigo’s lawyer also predicted in a statement the attitude he would take towards the first witness at the trial: “He is a witness without substances,” Mr. Cugias said, as “he was not present at all during the period of time she hospitalized Georgina.” . It is expected that Mr. Kougias, during the interrogation of Mr. Daskalakis, will want to state in court his position that the ex-husband of the accused not only has nothing new to bring into the case, but that “everything he says it is being questioned. “as the lawyer said a few days ago.

The first child of the Daskalaki family passed away on January 29, 2022, having survived the loss of his two younger brothers. According to the case file, her death was the result of a strong dose of ketamine administered to her by her mother at the Aglaia Kiriakou hospital, where she was admitted.

A few months earlier, Georgina had been subjected to another criminal act attributed to Pispirig against her. On April 11, 2021, he was admitted to the Karamandane hospital in Patras “without any pathological signs”. According to the case file, the child suffered a cardiac arrest “as a result of the administration of a highly toxic substance, most likely ketamine.” The medical event was handled by a huge, troubling effort by doctors, who then prevented a fatal outcome. However, they were unable to prevent hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, which, due to lack of oxygen to the brain, left Georgina completely disabled. Everything that happened in Caramandanio, according to Justice, constitutes the crime of attempted murder, for which the 34-year-old mother is responsible.

The father’s testimony on Tuesday is expected to be no different from the testimony he gave last April to the investigator in charge of Georgina’s case.

At the investigation department of Manos Daskalakis, who declared immediately after the arrest of the 34-year-old man that he supported the prosecution, a judicial official asked:

“During this whole adventure with Georgina’s health, combined with the deaths of your other two children who preceded her, did you suspect something was wrong?”

Mr. Daskalakis replied that until the issue of Georgina’s death was raised, it never occurred to him that a mother could harm his children. As he said:

“All the time we lived with the accused, and also during the health problems of Georgina and our other children, I did not suspect anything, because her behavior was as it should be, that is, a mother who loves her children and she caring and overprotective. In fact, anyone you ask our relatives and friends will tell you the same thing. So it never occurred to me that it could harm my children.”

But then, in the words of an eyewitness, “When the topic of Georgina’s death began to come up, I found that she was preoccupied and constantly in the television media, expressing her own views and constantly wondering if they would say anything about her. death of Georginas or if they found something. I didn’t like it, and I was actually explaining to her why she had soaked in so much and was constantly exposed to TV shows about the causes of our child’s death.”

Manos Daskalakis also explained why he publicly took the side of the woman who is now sitting in the dock: “I then initially supported her by giving a joint television interview. This was because I really believed her and had no reason to doubt her, and because we both said at the time and believed that the results of the toxicology test would be clear at all times and there was no cause for concern. However, the defendant did not stop at this television interview, but continued to talk in every possible way with every television publication and every journalist. In fact, since they called me as well, I constantly told them that I had nothing more to say other than what I said in the joint TV interview we had, and that my attitude was the same. I took this position because I thought it right to support the accused and be on her side. That was until the moment he was arrested. In particular, shortly before the arrest, he contacted me by phone and said that he had heard from a journalist (gives her last name) that the substance ketamine was found in Georgina’s blood, and he asked me what it was. Then her sister told me that the police had come and told her to follow them to the GADA to testify. The rest is known from the moment of his arrest. I contacted her only twice after her arrest, while she was in GADA, and tried to calm her down until I found out exactly what was going on. Since then, I have not contacted her again, because I had already heard that a large amount of the substance ketamine was found in Georgina’s blood, and now I have confirmed this by receiving copies of the case file and seeing with my own eyes the results of the toxicological examination. which is undeniable.”

He was also asked if Ms. Pispirigou could find the substance ketamine in any way, and she replied: “I don’t think it will be easy for her to find something, because there is no one among the immediate family who knows about these types . substances. I have nothing more to add.”

The witness claimed that until the first death of the family, Malena in 2019, there were no problems in his marriage. Everything went well: “Ms. Pispirigou and I met at a football match at the stadium in Patras in 2013. We started a relationship, and that same year Georgina entered our lives. Also in the same year on September 20, 2013, we got married in a civil marriage. In 2015, our second child, Malena, appeared in our lives. Until 2019, when our little Malena passed away due to liver failure, everything was fine as a family. Everything was perfect between us. Since 2019 and in connection with the death of our little Malena, minor problems have begun in our relationship, but this has not affected our children,” he said.
