12% of Greece is covered with snow

Latest satellite data for snow cover in Greece on January 26 show that approx. 12% land area Greece is covered in snow, which means snow cover levels have approached the 2004-2022 average for the last week of January.

The latest forecast data from the weather service of the National Observatory of Athens show that the snow cover will remain at the same or even somewhat higher levels, at least until the first week of February.

Low temperatures will contribute to local snowfalls in the mountains of the mainland and Crete.
