Rhodes and the rest of the prefecture’s islands have been cut off from traffic since Thursday night, as strong winds reaching even 10 on the Beaufort scale canceled all planned ship and aircraft routes.
Kindergartens, kindergartens, elementary schools, middle schools and high schools remain closed today Friday, in accordance with a decision made yesterday at noon by Rhodes Mayor Antonis Kambourakis, but lessons, education leaders have assured, will be conducted online via the Webex electronic app.
The Rhodes fire department has already received several requests to remove branches and trees “broken” by bad weather.
From Thursday evening, as well as this Friday from early morning, short-term power outages are also recorded. This morning in Archangelos in particular, these holidays created a challenge for students and teachers who were preparing to participate in planned online courses.
It has already begun to rain in the villages on the western side of the island, and for this reason, those who need to travel in their own transport should be especially careful.
The sorokad also caused significant damage to the coastal road of the Afandou community, part of which was destroyed by the waves.
Waves “swallowed” the beach road
As rodiaki.gr reported, the bad weather created a serious problem on the coastal road in the Afantou area, as the intensity of the waves managed to demolish most of the road.
How will the bad weather behave in the coming hours?
