
Areas in 25 counties and the municipality of Bucharest are under a yellow code warning of snow, blizzards and increased winds until Saturday evening, the National Meteorological Administration (ANM) said.
According to meteorologists, from 10:00 a.m. on January 27 to 10:00 p.m. on January 28 in Dobrudja, Muntenia, the Southern Carpathians and locally in the south of Moldova and the Eastern Carpathians, there will be significant quantitative precipitation, in total from 25 to 40 l/m2 will accumulate.
Counties affected by the yellow code for bad weather: Tulcea, Constanța, Galați, Braila, Jalomica, Calarasi, Niamc, Bacău, Vranca, Buzău, Prahova, Dambovitsa, Arges, Covasna, Brasov, Sibiu, Alba, Hunedoara, Karash-Severin , Mehedinci, Gorzh, Dolj, Vilca, Giurgiu, Ilfov and the municipality of Bucharest.
In the low-relief areas of Muntenia and Moldova, precipitation in the form of snow, sleet and rain will first occur, then snow will gradually prevail and a layer of snow will fall.
Throughout Friday in Dobrudja, it will be mostly rain, which will change to sleet and snow from Friday night to Saturday. At the same time, in these areas, the wind will increase temporarily, generally 50-60 km/h, and snowfall will occur.
According to experts’ forecasts, snow will continue to fall in the Southern Carpathians and in places in the Eastern Carpathians, a dense layer of snow will fall, blizzards in places (gusts of 50-70 km/h) and low visibility.
Meteorologists warn that there will be dust deposition in some places in Transylvania and Moldova.
For the area of the city of Bucharest, between 10:00 on January 27 and 8:00 on January 29, the weather will remain closed, with quantitatively significant precipitation. So, on average, 20 – 25 l/m2 will accumulate in the form of rain and sleet, while the wind will also increase with gusts up to 45 – 55 km/h.
From the night of Friday to Saturday, precipitation in the form of wet snow will prevail, so by Sunday morning, the layer of snow that has fallen will have different thicknesses, mainly 8-15 cm, and the intensity of the wind will gradually weaken. The air temperature will not have significant fluctuations and will range from 0 to 2 degrees Celsius.
