
EL.AS set about dismantling a criminal organization that was actively committing major thefts, mostly from homes in the wider Oropos area.
In particular, in the coordinated police operation that took place yesterday (25.01) in the morning in the area of Neokistoni Aspropyrgos with the assistance of the police officers of the Security Sub-Department of North-East Attica, the OPKE team. as well as police officers from the Attica Police Operations Directorate, three members of the organization, including the leader, were arrested.
In relation to them, as well as in relation to two more persons who are wanted, a criminal case has been initiated on a criminal organization, cases of theft committed and an attempt on persons who have united for this purpose are distinguished by complicity and continuation, as well as robbery.
As it turned out as a result of the investigation of the Police, members of the organization have created a criminal organization since at least November 2021 with the aim of committing especially large thefts from houses.
The gang, having as its base the area of the Newly Built Aspropyrgos, usually robbed houses located in the mountains of Oropos, while showing a special preference for the seizure of hunting weapons.
During their operation, they used private vehicles as “operations”, followed established entry and exit routes, and had different means of entry into houses depending on features and vulnerable entry points.
So far, 30 thefts and attempted thefts from houses, theft from a vehicle, as well as robbery in the wider area of Oropos, in particular in Avlona, Malakas, Sycaminos and Markopoulos, with illegal property gain, have been solved. of which in the amount of 100,000 euros about.
During the searches conducted in the houses of the detainees, the following were found and confiscated: an official car, a gun, a certain number of watches and valuables, a certain number of mobile phones, tablets and SIM cards, a certain number of electronic devices (TVs, speakers, game consoles, etc. .), a number of power tools and 1370 euros.
The arrested were taken to the prosecutor’s office, while investigative actions are ongoing, in order to fully establish the extent of their illegal activities.
