A fraud involving two elderly sisters from a village in the municipality of Visaltia in Serres and a robbery of 150,000 euros in cash was investigated by the police of the Serres Security Department.
The perpetrators turned out to be two gypsies, aged 37 and 31, who, posing as employees of the checkpoint and under the pretext of a fire risk due to an alleged problem in the electrical network, convinced unsuspecting elderly women to take the money that they kept in their house and placed in a pillowcase.
As it turned out as a result of the police investigation, it was the 37-year-old man who broke into the private house of two elderly brothers (76 and 80 years old) and took the cash in the specified way, and his 31-year-old accomplice was waiting for him in the getaway car. The incident occurred at the beginning of the year (01.04) and was reported to the police, who launched an investigation.
According to the details of the car, the police managed to find the criminals, while the 37-year-old man was allegedly identified by the victims. The case filed against them was referred to the Serres prosecutor’s office for further consideration.
