Inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) did not find military equipment at the nuclear power plant in Ukraine, the director of this UN agency, Raphael Grossi, said on Tuesday in the European Parliament, reports Agerpres.
In this way, he refuted the accusation made on Monday by Russian foreign intelligence, which claimed that Ukrainians were hiding weapons of Western origin in the relevant enterprises.
Kyiv has already rejected Moscow’s claim through a high-ranking official.
Grossi showed that the IAEA has established a permanent presence at all Ukrainian nuclear power plants. He also announced that he had ordered inspections on Tuesday to identify possible weapons for these purposes, and “the results of these inspections were negative.”
The director reminded that the agency managed to prove the groundlessness of some accusations regarding the illegality and danger of nuclear power plants in Ukraine for the second time. The first such claims involved the creation of a “dirty bomb,” a type of weapon that spreads radioactive materials through a conventional explosion.
