Tensions between the civil suit and the defense lawyers prevailed earlier in the hall of the Mixed Jury Court in Thessaloniki, where the trial for the murder of 19-year-old Alkis Campanos is taking place.
At the start of today’s hearing, Vassilis Taxis, one of the defendants for the 12 defendants, asked for the floor to make a statement, commenting on yesterday’s position of civil lawyer Alexis Kugia, who, on the occasion of the trial, spoke about the atmosphere of terrorism in the city of Thessaloniki. Mr. Kougias responded in a high-pitched tone, and the verbal confrontations were accompanied by harsh language from both sides. The court was interrupted for a few minutes to calm the spirit.
The trial continues with the testimony of witnesses for the prosecution.
