The court in the case of the murder of Alka: “They wanted to kill,” testified the father of the victim

The father of Alkis Campanos, in his testimony, spoke of a pre-planned, organized and cold-blooded crime. before the Mixed Jury in Thessalonikiwhich opened a cycle of interrogation of witnesses in the case of a fan-motivated assault on a 19-year-old student in the early hours of February 1, 2022.

Referring to his status as a former soldier and how the 12 defendants acted, Aristides Campanos used expressions such as “unorthodox warfare operation”, “phalanx” and “radio silence”. “They wanted to kill,” said Aristides Campanos, stressing that along with the life of Alkis, they destroyed the life of his entire family.

An emotionally charged witness referred to Alkis’s last words, when the unfortunate freshman pleaded with the defendants and shouted “don’t hit me anymore”, characteristically remarking: “I don’t know what the human psyche is and how we got to this point.”

He also stated that he had never been to the scene of the murder, and regarding the apology requested by some of the accused, Aristidis Campanos stressed: “Apology is one thing, forgiveness is another. Let them ask God for forgiveness.”

Describing the nature of his son, the witness said that he was a quiet, calm child, never fussed or caused trouble. “We received positive feedback about his character traits,” he testified, revealing that the 19-year-old was his spiritual father. “It may sound ironic. He was my spiritual father, the voice of conscience,” he said and explained: “As a soldier, I was confused and angry. More than once he advised me to be friendly to people, not to be embarrassed, not to be angry.”

Asked by the DA if his son was a fan, Aristides Campanos testified, “He was just an Aris fan, he loved Aris. The issue is that he was on the field five times. He did not belong to any association.”

Without even turning to the 12 accused, during his testimony, the witness, in his opening statement, referred to the last communication he had with his son, saying the following: “Our last communication was on January 31, at 8.15 in the evening. I tried to contact via the app and he said he was in the student club and would be back to continue reading as he was writing a lesson the next day. As far as I was informed, he went for a walk with his friends in Kharilau. My brother contacted me by phone to tell me about the incident.”
