Compared to last year, the cost of the monthly package of crossings from the Rio-Antirrio bridge has been reduced by 10 euros, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport G. Karagiannis said.

Responding to a timely question from PASOK Movement for Change MP D. Constantinopoulos about the “dramatic increase in the cost of crossing the Charilaos Trikoupis Bridge,” Mr. government intervention, the price eventually falls below last year’s level.

He noted that in 2022, this package, according to the announcements of the concessionaire, amounted to 242.56 euros, and in 2023 it will grow to 295 euros.

In this context, Mr. Karagiannis reported that there was a communication and meaningful discussion between the political leadership of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport with Gefira, during which it was emphasized that “this blindness should be corrected.”

Ten euros less than last year

“I inform you that the company has decided to adjust the price of the package to 232.90 euros, which is 10 euros less than what users paid last year,” said Mr. Karagiannis.

According to the prime minister, the Gefira company will make a corresponding statement tomorrow. “The intervention of our government (in the increase) was immediate and I must say that the company took the blindness seriously and the mistake made was corrected immediately,” said Mr. Karagiannis.

For his part, Mr. Constantinopoulos conveyed the protests of the local communities and, in particular, the indignation of the workers of Aetoloakarnania and Achaia, emphasizing the need to support citizens. “Whenever it wants, the government can put it into practice,” Mr. Konstantinopoulos said.
