DIICOT prosecutors handling the case, who searched the suspect’s home on Monday, had sought his remand, but judges at the Vilch court rejected the request.

A 32-year-old man is suspected of offering cakes with marijuana at a private party held at the restaurant of the Ramada Hotel in the town of Rymnik-Vilca. According to DIICOT, he was among the guests of the event.

After consumption, 16 anniversary participants complained of feeling unwell, heart palpitations, hallucinations and panic attacks and appeared in the security room of the Vilca District Hospital.

15 of them tested positive for marijuana.

During the search conducted on Sunday, the remains of hemp and a meat grinder were found at the man’s home.

The hotel where the party was held was cordoned off by the incident. The Ramada Hotel said that the meals offered to guests met food safety standards, stressing that the cakes were brought to the celebration with a certificate of compliance.
