Based on the London Times and quoting a senior Greek official, the publication talks about the creation of an extension of the British Museum to the Acropolis Museum as one of several possible solutions to the return of the sculptures.

The British Museum and the Greek government have ruled out the “loan” scenario as it affects the Sculptors’ property status, but there are still hurdles in the talks, the official quoted by the newspaper said. “However, we are optimistic that an agreement will be reached by the end of the year, and at the same time the first batch of sculptures will be delivered to Athens,” the Greek source said and added: “We are working on a broad and long-term cultural agreement. which will include the exchange and rotation of historical objects between Greece and the British Museum. However, according to the Times from the British side, the idea of ​​accession was not officially discussed. Speaking to K, a Greek government source in charge of the negotiations also ruled out such a possibility, calling the return of the sculptures during 2023 “difficult”. Professor Nikos Stampolidis told K that “the Acropolis Museum has no official or unofficial information about him.”
