
The trial for his murder continues today at the Mixed Jury in Thessaloniki. Alki Campanu and the injury of two of his friends, with the drawing of lots by the jury to take their places next to the regular judges, the reading of the indictment and – perhaps – the first statements.
The trial began last Wednesday but was delayed due to obstacles cited by at least five lawyers for the defendants. On the first day of the “trial of the year” in Thessaloniki, the parents of the unfortunate young man first appeared before 12 accused of killing their son. 12 young people are accused of manslaughter, committed (in the case of Alkis) and attempted (in the case of one of his wounded friends) jointly, and one of them of attempted murder, in the case of his second wounded friend Alki. and the remaining 11 as simple accomplices of this act.
All of them are charged with assault and possession of objects that can cause bodily harm, with aggravated circumstances of the sports law, as well as illegal possession and use of weapons.
The trial is expected to last several months, and the court has already scheduled more than 20 trials for March. Of particular importance are the testimony of the forensic expert, whose conclusion indicated that his death was the result of a combination of injuries to the body with sharp objects and blows to the head.
It is recalled that the fan-motivated attack took place early in the morning on 1 February 2022 on Theodorou Gazi Street in Thessaloniki.
