Sutcevan magistrates on Friday night issued a 30-day arrest warrant for the head of the district hospital’s oncology unit, who was arrested on bribery charges after being caught red-handed by police. The doctor, who according to her declaration of wealth earns almost 5,000 euros per month, is accused of receiving bribes from dozens of patients in the amount of 50 lei to 50 euros.

The prosecutor’s office offered to issue a warrant for the arrest of doctor Anka Ababna Dumitrovichi, who was handed over to the Suchevan court.

In the evening, Suceava court judges accepted the prosecutors’ proposal and issued a warrant for preventive arrest for 30 days, News.ro reports.

The decision is not final, the doctor from Suceava can appeal the court’s decision.

Anka Ababne Dumitrovici was detained after a loud action organized by the police and the prosecutor’s office, for bribery. According to sources cited by News.ro, it all started with a complaint from a patient who complained that he was being asked for a bribe.

According to the prosecutor’s office of the Suchavskyi court, during the period from April 2022 to January 19, 2023, he repeatedly accepted a promise to receive a sum of money, demanded and received different sums of money (each 50 lei, 100 lei, 200 lei, 50 euros) or other goods (honey, cheese, coffee, chocolate, cheese, etc.) from 64 people, patients or their relatives.

“Money and foodstuffs were received for the execution of medical documents related to the treatment of oncological diseases and assistance, which should have been provided free of charge,” the prosecutor’s office notes.

According to them, in just one week since last December, the doctor received bribes and goods 62 times.

Income of almost 5,000 euros per month

According to her latest property declaration, starting from June 2022, Anka Ababne Dumitrovici had an annual income in the previous fiscal year of 210,336 lei as a doctor at the Suceava District Hospital, 84,504 lei received as an authorized individual (clinic), which means 294,840 lei , i.e. 24,570 lei per month (almost 5,000 euros).

while her husband, also a doctor, collected 131,721 lei from the hospital and 88,200 lei from the clinic.
