The Union of Mosques in France (UMF) filed a complaint against French writer Michel Houellebecq on Friday for “inciting discrimination, hatred or violence,” AFP reported.

The case concerns comments by Houellebecq about Muslims, published at the end of November in Front populaire magazine in an interview with Onfray.

In an interview, the author of the novel “Submission” presented Muslims as a threat to the security of non-Muslim French.

Last week, the writer, against whom the head of the Grand Mosque in Paris also announced he wanted to file a complaint before resigning, admitted that some paragraphs were “ambiguous”.

“Muslims in France do not understand that Mr. Houellebecq can, on the one hand, admit that the paragraphs in question are ambiguous and, on the other hand, take no action to stop their broadcast,” said Mohammed Moussaoui, president of the UMF . in the application.
