Gianluca Pessotto’s letter to Gianluca Vialli, who moved the entire stadium

Former Italy international Gianluca Vialli died on Friday at the age of 58 after a grueling battle with a relentless illness.

On Saturday, Juventus hosted Udinese, and thousands of fans wore T-shirts with the name of the ex-Torino forward.

Gianluca Vialli’s Juventus team-mate in the 1995/1996 season, when they also won the UEFA Champions League, Gianluca Pessotto (Juventus academy manager) read the letter before the start of the match that rocked the Turin Arena.

“Goodbye, Luke. We are sure that you are here today, somewhere among us.

So many of us have come to let you know that we will never forget you, that we will never stop loving you.

You were a guide both on and off the field.

Locker room roommate, captain, friend. No one will forget your subtle irony, class, charisma and tenacity.

No one will forget the emotions you gave us with your game and goals.

We will miss your smiles very much. We at the stadium are ready to embrace you, as we have always been ready to celebrate your every success.

Goodbye, Captain, have a good trip. We love you!” said Gianluca Pessotto, according to Corriere dello Sport.
