The capital’s mayor, NikuĊĦor Dan, announced on Saturday that a Bucharest court had revoked the building permit issued by Gabriela Firea for a 25-meter-tall building to be built on Mantulias Street.
“The Bucharest court revoked, at the request of the neighbors, the construction permit issued by the mayor of Firea for a 25-meter building on Mantulias street, on the site of the school where Mircea Eliade studied (illegally demolished in 2002),” the mayor wrote on Saturday in his Facebook accounts.
The building permit, revoked by a Bucharest court at the request of some people living in the area, was granted in 2016 by the mayor general at the time, Gabriela Firea.
The plaintiffs in the lawsuit were unhappy that the 25m block would be built there, given that buildings in the area can be no more than 13m, and claimed it would destroy the character of the Mantoulias conservation area, which still has many heritage buildings.
Earlier, on August 29, a Bucharest court overturned a zonal urban planning plan, according to which the General Council of the Bucharest Municipality approved the construction of a 25-meter five-story block on the land where Mircea Eliade’s school was located. , demolished in 2002 without the opinion of the Ministry of Culture, reports Agerpres.
