Ukraine received the equivalent of more than $32 billion in foreign aid and loans last year after the Russian invasion in late February, German news agency dpa reported. The US contributed more than a third of the amount.

About 40% of this amount came from the USA, the NBU reported on Friday evening. A little less than 25% came from the EU and about 8% from the International Monetary Fund.

Germany alone contributed $1.6 billion, according to the statement.

The total aid is equivalent to approximately 16% of Ukraine’s pre-war economic output.

However, the gross domestic product of Ukraine in 2022 due to the war will fall by more than 30%, according to the estimates of the Ministry of Economy in Kyiv.

Russia occupied about 18% of the territory of Ukraine, including the Crimean peninsula in the Black Sea, which was annexed in 2014. Ukraine is largely dependent on foreign aid, both financial and military, dpa notes. (Source Agerpres)
