After a great start to the year with back-to-back wins, Poland’s Iga Sviatek lost decisively to Jessica Pegula in the mixed United Cup.

WTA No. 1 Svyatek won just four games in the match, which lasted one hour and 11 minutes.

In the end, Pegula won 6-2 and 6-2 and without emotion goes on, qualifying for the semifinals.

About the United Cup

The competition is held in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney for the first time. It is played at a tough level and has a total prize pool of $15 million.

18 national teams took part in the United Cup, which were divided into six groups. Five matches are played in a match between two teams: two men’s singles, two women’s singles and one mixed doubles match.
